The Fourmost
Biography

Originally known as the Blue Jays, then the Four Jays, then the Four Mosts, the band comprised:

Brian O'Hara - lead guitar / vocals
Mike Millward - rhythm guitar / vocals
Billy Hatton - bass / vocals
Dave Lovelady - drums

The Fourmost acheived fame under the management wing of Brian Epstein and had already been part of the boom of beat music in Liverpool, having played the famous Cavern club in 1961, long before the Beatles made their debut. After being auditioned by George Martin, they were signed to Parlophone Records, the same label as The Beatles. Two commercial Lennon / McCartney songs, "Hello Little Girl" and "I'm In Love" served as their initial a-sides, but the chirpy "A Little Lovin'" became the bands biggest hit on reaching No.6 in April 1964. They were featured in the film "Ferry Cross The Mersey" which consolidated their position as one of the leading Liverpool groups.

The Fourmosts' later releases veered from Tamla Motown with an excellent version of the Four Tops' "Baby I Need Your Lovin'" to the music hall humour of George Formby (Auntie Maggies Remedy). After the unfortunate death of Mike Millward in 1966, the band recruited amongst others George Peckham and eventually Joey Bowers and this line up continued into the 70's when Billy Hatton, Dave Lovelady and Joey Bowers left the group to form 'Clouds'. Brian O'Hara continued along with Bill Haisman, until the early 80's before he too decided to call it a day. On Brians' departure, Bill took over the reins and recruited Kevin and John to join The Fourmost. Bill retired in 2007 and Graham James then joined the band, making the current line-up as follows:

Graham James - bass / vocals
John Richards - lead guitar / vocals
Gary Pearson - rhythm guitar / vocals
Kevin Clarkson - drums / vocals

The current line up are proud of the direct links they have with the recording band of the 60's,indeed, the arrangements of some of the hits are a result of the natural progression through the years.

The Fourmost are one of the better outfits to come from the Merseybeat era. Their vocal prowess is powerful and their instrumental delivery is always crisp and punchy. During the last twelve months, the band have toured extensively appearing in top venues all over the U.K.

The Fourmost are still very much in demand!.
